Happy Resurrection Day!
We were out at the farm today and it was fun walking around seeing all of the surprises coming up out of the dirt--irises, peonies, lilacs, daffodils, etc.

The Last Supper
I heard T.D. Jakes talking about communion yesterday. He was explaining the part about Jesus offering up the bread as His body. Jesus told His disciples to eat the bread. This was going to be the last time they would eat this way in a while, but He told them that after Pentecost, He would still be with them--just in a new form. He would be dwelling inside of them. I think that is the most creative thing that the God of the Universe ever came up with.

Thursdays at Zamma's
Today's project was making flower arrangements. Can you guess which is Lili's? Let me tell you, she did not want ANY help. Sophie's is the one on the right--it had to be a perfect bunch and all of the flowers had to be alike. Then Lili took pictures of them with my camera. The blur in the 2nd picture is Sophie trying to get in the picture.

Valentine (Part III)
My sweet Chloe--the first of my God-sent Valentine grands:
Part II "Concatanare"--I love my new word!
We are never too old to learn new words. My new word to describe my genogram is from a Latin word, "concatanare", which means "to link together". I look at this line of people who I love dearly and realize that most of them never met each other. The only common denominator is ME! I love them all--and I have even never met some of the people on my family ribbon.
Sophie Juliet starts out my genogram on the left side. Next to her are my great-grandparents (Jost) who died before I was born. My relationship to them is the same that my relationship will be to Sophie's children. It is so hard to believe that I know so little about them. I only met 2 of my great-uncles in that family picture.
My brother who died at age 27 (37 years ago),
My little grandson, Miles,
My Amazing Genogram Valentine! from Melanie (Part I)
Who in the world would think of creating a genogram for Valentine's Day for her dear old Mom? An 8' long Valentine--embellished with crystals, pearls, wax seals, and glitter? She and Matthew are conspicuously absent on my strand of concatenation*. I must add them ASAP. Oh, she also forgot another important person (my Dad). I must add these 3 people soon, as the line is not complete without them!
*
- Concatenation (from Latin concatenare, to link together) is taking two or more separately located things and placing them side-by-side next to each other so that they can now be treated as one thing.

Sweet Little Lili

Sounds like a perfect resolution for 2011:
"I’m tired of theological debate. Let’s go out: go and live deliberately; love deeply; serve humbly; laugh wildly; embrace kindly; share without measure. You are the package the Gift is wrapped in. Rivers of living water will flow from your innermost being. Christ is in you: the expectation of glory." - Willem Boshoff
YOU ARE THE PACKAGE THE GIFT IS WRAPPED IN!
Quote by Betty Smith
"Look at everything as though you were seeing it for the first time or last time.
Then your time on earth will be filled with glory."
"They come through you but not from you..."
"Your children are not your children.
They are the sons and daughters of Life's longing for itself.
They come through you but not from you,
And though they are with you, yet they belong not to you.
You may give them your love but not your thoughts.
For they have their own thoughts.
You may house their bodies but not their souls,
For their souls dwell in the house of tomorrow, which you cannot visit,
not even in your dreams.
You may strive to be like them, but seek not to make them like you.
For life goes not backward nor tarries with yesterday.
You are the bows from which your children as living arrows are sent forth.
The archer sees the mark upon the path of the infinite,
and He bends you with His might that His arrows may go swift and far.
Let your bending in the archer's hand be for gladness;
For even as he loves the arrow that flies, so He loves also the bow that
is stable."

for Melanie-Pearl:
For the Artist at the Start of the Day
May morning be astir with the harvest of night;
Your mind quickening to the eros of a new question,
Your eyes seduced by some unintended glimpse
That cut right through the surface to a source.
Your mind quickening to the eros of a new question,
Your eyes seduced by some unintended glimpse
That cut right through the surface to a source.
May this be a morning of innocent beginning,
When the gift within you slips clear
Of the sticky web of the personal
With its hurt and its hauntings,
And fixed fortress corners,
When the gift within you slips clear
Of the sticky web of the personal
With its hurt and its hauntings,
And fixed fortress corners,
A Morning when you become a pure vessel
For what wants to ascend from silence,
For what wants to ascend from silence,
May your imagination know
The grace of perfect danger,
The grace of perfect danger,
To reach beyond imitation,
And the wheel of repetition,
And the wheel of repetition,
Deep into the call of all
The unfinished and unsolved
The unfinished and unsolved
Until the veil of the unknown yields
And something original begins
To stir toward your senses
And grow stronger in your heart
And something original begins
To stir toward your senses
And grow stronger in your heart
In order to come to birth
In a clean line of form,
That claims from time
A rhythm not yet heard,
That calls space to
A different shape.
In a clean line of form,
That claims from time
A rhythm not yet heard,
That calls space to
A different shape.
May it be its own force field
And dwell uniquely
Between the heart and the light
And dwell uniquely
Between the heart and the light
To surprise the hungry eye
By how deftly it fits
About its secret loss.
By how deftly it fits
About its secret loss.
